Mycopigments: Exploring Mushrooms for Dyes. Have you ever found yourself curious about the mysterious and colorful fungi in the woods? Maybe you've seen some of the brilliant colors they make on fiber. Perhaps you've even dabbled in mushroom dyeing yourself. This presentation will introduce you to the basics of getting started with mushroom dyes as well as address topics such as mushroom safety, ethical harvest, mordants, identification, testing for color, and maximizing the dye potential of each pigment group. This talk is for observers, dabblers and experienced dyers alike. Join me as we explore the full spectrum of color that can be found right here in Pacific Northwest fungi.
Presentation open to guild members and guests. Read more about the Tacoma Weavers Guild here
