Stix & Stones Yarn Shop presents: Mycopigments: Mushroom and Lichen Dyeing with  Fungi of the Rockies

Join us September 12–13 (9am–4pm) at the stunning Big B's Delicious Orchards in Hotchkiss, Colorado for a two-day immersion in the colorful world of Rocky Mountain mushroom dyeing — guided by Alissa Allen of Mycopigments.

Day one covers the history and science of fungal dyeing, ethical foraging, fiber selection, mordants, and dye testing — working together to build a palette of over 20 vibrant samples using fungi that occur in the Rockies. Day two opens things up: using silk scarves and your own protein fibers, we'll explore dyeing from a more freeform approach with common, easy-to-recognize species for shades like raspberry, foxy brown, brilliant yellow, seafoam, golden olive, and more.

You'll leave with an instructional booklet, a rainbow of dyed samples, at least 6 oz of fungi-dyed fiber, and a beautiful resist-dyed silk scarf — plus the confidence to forage and dye on your own.

Bring at least six ½–1 oz bundles of washed, labeled protein fiber (wool, silk, alpaca, mohair, etc.). Bring extra — and containers for any leftover dye to take home!

Saturday dinner is included. Onsite camping is available, and we're happy to suggest nearby lodging options.

Space is limited — register for the workshop and camping directly at farmgirlfancy.com or call 970-201-5760.

We will be awarding one scholarship for a workshop participant (does not include lodging). Please send an email to mycopigments@gmail.com describing your interest in mushroom dyeing and why you would like a scholarship to this workshop.
